Hargovandas Lakhmichand College of Commerce (H L College of Commerce), the pioneer of commerce education in Gujarat, was the first college founded by the Ahmedabad Education Society (AES) in 1936. AES established the college with a generous donation from Shri Amritlal Hargovandas and Shri Tribhovandas Hargovandas in honor of their father, Shri Hargovandas Lakhmichand.
