In 1870, the Maharaja of Vijanagaram initially proposed the concept of establishing a Medical College in Lucknow. However, due to a lack of funds, the idea didn’t materialize at that time. The inspiration for establishing the college resurfaced in 1905 during the visit of King-Emperor George V, then Prince of Wales. The visionary behind the commemoration was the late Raja Sir Tassadnq Rasul Khan of Jehangirabad, to whom Sir Harcourt Butler wrote on December 1, 1905.
