Recognizing this, the Government of Gujarat has made a commendable decision to establish a dedicated university for the Kachchh region, addressing the demands of its people. The Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University Act was officially published in the Government Gazette in March 2003.
This initiative led to the reclassification of all ten colleges in the Kachchh district, previously affiliated with Gujarat University. Through Notification No: GH/SH/5/KUG-2104-1648-Kh, these colleges became affiliated with Kachchh University on June 22, 2004.
Named after the eminent leader Shyamji Krishna Verma of Mandvi, Kachchh, who played a significant role in motivating the independence movement from outside India, the university is now recognized as “The Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University.”
